Panasonic
is looking for a Chief Software Architect to oversee the design of their
protocol engine to support Client’s North American mobile handset development.
The
position is perm here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada (some people
may remember Calgary from hosting the 1988 Winter Olympic Games) and salary
range is only in Canadian dollars. A full relocation package is
available as well.
General Description:
Design
a platform independent Layer 2 / Layer 3 protocol engine to support TDMA
/ EDGE and GSM / GPRS protocols. The protocol engine will support multiple products and product
lines, therefore must be designed for reuse and must be scalable.
Responsibilities:
Oversee
the design and guide the development and integration of a platform independent
protocol engine for TDMA / EDGE and GSM / GPRS protocols.
Will lead a team of architects each responsible for design specifics of
the different product platforms. The
Chief Architect is responsible for designing for reuse across multiple products
and product lines relating to GSM / GPRS and TDMA / EDGE protocols.

Understand the
project scope, key requirements, design points, and expectations
·
Identify,
define and document domains; specify domain requirements
·
Create
architectural-level designs depicting the domain characteristics
·
Expand detail
and refine design to converge on final design
·
Define and
document construction process and sequence
·
Specify
required tools and methodologies
·
Assist in
identifying developers
·
Provide design
supervisory role to ensure vision is understood and executed
·
Review
construction-level designs
·
Conduct
design-reviews and analyze problems and change requests
·
Support field
testing
Requirements:
·
5+ years
experience as software architect
·
experience
with real-time architectures
·
familiarity
with GSM/GPRS or TDMA protocols
·
understand
concepts of object-oriented analysis and design
·
experience
with C++
·
experience
with CASE Tools – specifically Rational Real-Time
·
The applicants must be senior software architects and must be
from the wireless community only. Meaning, wireless software
experience is CRITICAL & Mandatory. The position will pay about
between $90,000.00 to $130,000.00 CANADIAN to start and the client
has excellent stock options and benefits. All applicants must keep in
mind this is a perm staff position only, there is NO
POSSABILITY OF A CONTRACT. Moreover, all applicants must realize
although Canadian taxes are at a max of about 40% of annual salary when it's all
said and done, Canada has an excellent health care plan and everyone is covered
