Primary Job Responsibilities

As a member of Enterprise Architecture Group & Electronic Commerce Team, this person will:
* Architect a global, scalable and flexible E-Commerce environment capable of supporting business-driven E-Commerce initiatives and marketing activities that drive competitive advantage.
* Design and implement the systems, technical and applications architectures for delivering services and products with public or private network-based (i.e. Internet, ANX, etc.) electronic business solutions between Praxair and internal and external trading partners.
* Collaborate with business leaders to ensure proposed solutions are reliable, scalable, secure and manageable, meet the demands and service level agreements of the business and partners, (suppliers, customers, etc.), and are aligned with the strategic business direction for e-commerce.
* Recommend courses of action to minimize costs & time to market, and maximize productivity.
* Design and implement E-Commerce security architecture in accordance with corporate security policies.
* Define technical standards, procedures, processes, documentation, specifications and development methodologies to support e-commerce initiatives.
* Work within E-Commerce community to estimate costs and benefits for proposed solutions.
* Participate in vendor selection and management of tools vendors and external service providers. Participate in the negotiation of terms and conditions for all vendor agreements.
* Maintain knowledge of new E-commerce market initiatives and technologies, specifically in the Internet, closed trading groups and legal issues arenas.
* Maintain and oversee the on-going evolution of the technical architecture as it relates to e-commerce.
* Work closely with other global business centers and communicate enterprise standards throughout organization.

Educational & Technical Experience

* BS in Computer Science or Engineering.
* Expert knowledge of Information Systems is required.
* Experience with design and implementation of enterprise systems for networking, security, directory and authentication service, database technologies and web servers is required.
* Experience implementing web architectures for electronic commerce is required, as is experience with e-commerce applications such as catalog, on-line ordering, bill presentment and payment, or customers service applications.
* Other highly desirable experience includes firewalls, logging and real-time alarms, system auditing, backup and recovery and redundancy strategies.
* Systems integration experience with ERP and legacy systems is highly desirable, JD Edwards preferred.
* Must have the ability to plan architectural requirements 2-3 years in advance.
* Candidate must be comfortable making project decisions, monitoring progress, and reporting results.

Comments

Candidate should possess above average oral and written communication skills. Reports to Department Manager.

Compensation

Low 6 figures plus bonus, 16% at target, stock options. Eligible for profit sharing based on specific metrics related to company performance, up to 10 days pay per quarter, paid semi-annually. Sign-on bonuses are possible based on individual needs (usually in the 10-15k range). Sign-on bonuses must be paid back should the individual leave within a prescribed time frame.

Relocation: Relocation assistance will be provided.

Education: BS in Computer Science or Engineering.

Travel: Some travel may be required.
